Planning Commission To Review Seven Applications

The Planning Commission has seven new applications on its agenda for Monday, August 25, 2008 at 7:00 pm. All of the applications are for work within the historic district (Architectural Review Overlay District). One application, submitted by the Granville Ohio Historical Society, is for completion of work already undertaken to remove a door on the north side of the museum. The Planning Commission had denied a previous application for this project on July 28.

During New Business, the Planning Commission will consider the following:

1. Application #08-103: Submitted by Gretchen Hollingsworth, for the property located at 209 North Granger Street. The request is for architectural review and approval of window replacements. The property is zoned Village Residential District (VRD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
2. Application #08-104: Submitted by Tom Mitchell, for the property located at 303 South Main Street. The request is for architectural review and approval of the following items:

1) Removal of southern deck and handicap ramp;

2) Removal of south patio door and replacement with window (to match the location, materials and finish of the elevation on the north side);

3) Install 2 air conditioning condensers on the north side, screened with evergreen plant materials;

4) Remove imitation shutters;

5) Remove screen enclosure on southwestern porch and restore to original.

The property is zoned Village Residential District (VRD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
3. Application #08-105: Submitted by Stephen Hawk, for the property located at 236 West Elm Street. The request is for architectural review and approval of garage door replacements. The property is zoned Village Residential District (VRD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
4. Application #08-107: Submitted by Carrie Mumma, for the property located at 123 West Broadway. The request is for architectural review and approval of a four foot (4') dog ear wood picket fence to be located in the side and rear yard. The property is zoned Village Residential District (VRD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
5. Application #08-108: Submitted by the Granville Ohio Historical Society, for the property located at 115 East Broadway. The request is for architectural review and approval of removal of the existing doorway and replacement with either of the following options:

1) Stucco panel filling opening, painted green to match the old door color; or

2) Steel or fiberglass two panel door in wood frame, painted green to match the old door color.

The property is zoned Village Business District (VBD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
6. Application #08-109: Submitted by Noir Investments/Bethany Black, and owned by Dena McKinley, for the property located at 226B East Broadway. The request is for a change of use within Category “E”: Retail Outlets, from a Furniture Store to a Clothing Store. The property is zoned Village Business District (VBD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).
7. Application #08-110: Submitted by Noir Investments/Bethany Black, and owned by Deana McKinley, for the property located at 226B East Broadway. The request is for architectural review and approval of a freestanding sign. The property is zoned Village Business District (VBD) and is located within the Architectural Review Overlay District (AROD).

The public is welcome to attend the Planning Commission meeting and individuals may exercise their First Amendment rights and speak during the Public Comment section at the beginning of the meeting.

The hearings are "open to the public" but are "not public hearings." This means that the only individuals who are permitted to speak during the hearings are those individuals who are the actual "parties" to the matter.

The following persons or their attorneys are considered to be parties: the applicant, the owner of the property that is the subject of the application, the owner of property that is adjacent or contiguous to the property that is the subject of the application, and any other person who claims that a direct, present injury or prejudice will occur to a personal property right if the application is approved or denied.
