The Construction At Cleveland Hall Continues
Construction workers continue to work on Cleveland Hall again today marking four days of effort that was described by Denison’s Scott Walker, Manager, Energy & Construction, as only receiving a delivery of electrical equipment.
However, in pictures taken today by The Granville Press, it can be seen that more than just accepting a delivery is occurring.
Allison Terry, Granville Village Planner said today she had spoken with Walker and he assured her they were not working, but merely accepting a delivery. However, sounds of construction continue to come from the building and the activity has continued for four days. Walker was unavailable for comment.
On March 10, Judge Spahr ruled that Denison did not have a valid construction permit for the Cleveland Hall restoration and additions. In response, on March 25, Denison asked for a partial modification of that ruling that would permit continued work on the interior of the old building. Denison also asked to continue construction of two of the three modern additions.
In his decision, Judge Spahr wrote “Insofar as appellees request the Court to modify the judgment to allow Denison to proceed with construction according to the architectural plans for which Denison no longer has a valid permit, the motion is DENIED.”
By voiding the zoning permit, Judge Spahr has forced Denison to stop construction until a new permit is issued. To resume construction on the inside, Denison must apply for a new Zoning Permit under the rules of the Architectural Review Overlay District in which Cleveland Hall is located. To obtain such a permit, Denison must present its plans to the Planning Commission during a public hearing.

I pity the fool that made this decision!l
Unless there is something I don’t understand, this is a major mistake. The hammer will be coming down soon.
