Village Council To Consider Gateway District At Work Session

The Village Council will hold a work session in the Village Offices on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 pm to discuss the Village Gateway District and the recommendations received from the Planning Commission.

The regulations of this proposed district could be applied to the River Road area or other "gateways" into the Village. The draft provisions are based upon the existing provisions of the Suburban Business District (SBD).

Modifications have been made to provide additional flexibility, to clarify some of the language that currently exists in the SBD, and to address some of the unique characteristics of the gateway areas. In the draft ordinance, language that is underlined represents an addition to the language that is in the existing SBD; and language that is crossed out represents a deletion of the language that is currently in the SBD.

According to Village Manager, Don Holycross, "...we have added highlighting to the draft ordinance that should make it easier to read and understand. (The Gateway provisions are based somewhat on the existing provisions of the Suburban Business District. New language that differs from the Suburban Business District regulations has been underlined and bolded and appears in black text. Existing language in the Suburban Business District that is being deleted has been crossed through and bolded and appears in red text.)"

In presenting the Planning Commission's proposed changes in a memo to Council, Holycross wrote, "...we have added some additional text that should make the information easier to read and process. On the summary sheet, the changes recommended by the Planning Commission are in bold, black text. Following each recommendation, we have indicated the section of the draft Gateway ordinance that would be affected by the proposed change and have summarized the current language in that section of the draft ordinance. These additional comments appear in blue italicized print."
