Shop History?

My husband and I saw a sign hanging on a wall in a Virginia Cracker Barrel.  The sign read, "Watches, Clocks, and Jewelry/ Repairing a Specialty/ Geo. Stuart /Granville, Ohio."
Does anyone know if this was an actual shop in Granville?
 Thanks!

I’ve seen his name before

I’ve seen his name before  Probably when I was doing reshearch on the barn  behind Foot Loose.  Sorry but I know the place was here, just can’t remember info.  Here’s where to go to find out.  The Granville Museum (next to Park) They have everything on tape.  You just plug in the name and then look up all the times it was mentioned in the local paper.  These records go back to the begining of Granville.  Happy hunting!  Barbara Franks

Very interesting—thank you!

Shop History

Looked hard but apparently not hard enough. Can’t find anything on this but will do deeper research. Sounds interesting. Back to the good old books. This can’t be that hard to find. Was there a date..any time reference on this sign? Was it a metal sign or a paper sign?? A poster perhaps? What period did it look like?

More Shop History

Well, the sign was in one of those nondescript Cracker Barrel frames.  Most of the sign (possibly a replica poster) was sepia with a white border.  A timepiece was on one side with the time reading 2:45.  Now I wish I’d taken it down for a closer look, but I’d already unnerved the elderly couple sitting beneath it when I took a cell phone photo…

Neat

Neat.

the renovation of nerk

whats the take on the possible renovation of newark ?
i believe that if its done in a historical way and taking advantage of all of newarks
fabulous buildings it could very well be a business threat to gville in the future
givin the plan for river road  i feel its imperative  that we get this right
my concern has always been traffic on main street
and the possiblity of choking off of the downtown area with traffic volume
and keeping folks away from town
any answers ?

Louis B. Sullivan

I think the renovation of Newark would be great. The downtown buildings are incredible. The Louis B. Sullivan on the corner (used to the be ice cream shop) is a real treasure.
I do agree that we need to be careful of having too much traffic on 37. That could put a crimp on downtown.

$$$$$$$$

i really think the road is a major problem to overcome
this newark renovation could be a real threat economically
